I was studying in Eph 3 this morning. Paul was explaining to the Ephesions the role which God had given him. The recipients of his letter knew of his suffering, but in v 13 he asks them to “not be discouraged because of my sufferings for you.” Paul did not expect that the role God had given him would be free of “bad things happening to a good person doing God’s work.”

good post, Mike!
I’m doing a Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer right now called ONE IN A MILLION. She touches base on how God led the Israelites by HIS CHOOSING through the desert for YEARS rather than taking them on the past of least resistance that should have lasted only about a month. He did it to reveal Himself to them… very cool to view life in that way, but it takes TRUST AND FAITH beyond our own understanding.
